Here's the flier for the big group show I curated. I'm a little late posting this, but it's on viewfor the whole month of May 2008 at the Pony Club Gallery at 625 NW Everett #105, Portland, OR. The Opening night was a blast! I'll be posting some pictures in my 'Other Stuff' section soon.
My Friends Sean Christensen (AKA: Proff. Awesome But True), Amy Kuttab, and Ryan Cotton, hung out with me at the gallery for 3 days building an installation piece in the window featuring alien buildings, flying machines, seamonsters, floating seadpods, boats and more! Catherine Peach visited us and created a flying cat woman. Tragical Beast came along and built a cloud with reaching hands. It was an excellent time! My friend Peter Hamlin provided some amazing animation and I built an cyclops head box for it to be viewed inside of. You can see more of Peters work as http://www.hambot.com/.
A huge thanks to all thew amazing artists who came through with pieces for this show. It was a great experience and it truly became the community building event that I hoped it would be!

Here's one of the pieces I made for the Imaginary Civilizations show. It's a collaboration with my good friend Sam Kulla. When he was visiting me last week he gave me a digital print of a photo of water and sky that he's been giving to friends to alter. I worked right over the print with pens and colored pencil. It was super fun! I'll have to do more of that sometime

I've got 3 drawings in a show called "Don't Paint Your Teeth" at an excelent gallery called Cinders on 103 Havemeyer St store#2, Brooklyn, NY. The opening reception is on may 9th from 7-10 pm. Everything in the show has to be either blue ball point pen, pencil, or sharpie. I was very excited about this! Above is one of the ball point pen drawings I did for the show. You can find out more about this gallery at http://www.cindersgallery.com/ ...I like what these folks are up to.

Thrusday, October 4th, is going to be a good night for gallery openings in down town Portland! I've done a piece for this month's group show at Reading Frenzy on 921 SW Oak St. The theme was to do a piece in memory of something that's been lost. Mine is in memory of forgotten memories (pictured above).

Meanwhile, my friend David Youngblood is having a solo show at Pony Club Gallery on 625 NW Everett #105.
The show is titled, The Fates of Fredrick the Thief, and is not to be missed. The entire show is a story told in silent panels mounted on wood that circle the entire gallery, turning the space into an obstacle course/choose your own adventure experience! Yes!
Also, when you're at Pony Club, look for a copy of the new Art Zine featuring drawings by all the members of Pony Club. It's called Bridle, and has a beautiful screen printed cover by Zack Soto. Seeing this zine in print made me extra excited to be working with this awesome group of artists!

I'm having an ART OPENING on the first thursday of December (the 7th) Downtown Portland at ANTIC Studio on 328 NW Broadway #115 from 6-9 pm.
The Show is called Secret Hideout and will feature alot of never seen before drawings, paintings, and mixed media work. If you're in the area, stop by, have a glass of wine, and look at all the weird stuff that came out of my head, it should be fun!

I've been drawing a lot.

----> Things have been crazy busy out here, but in the best kind of way!
I've got an art show hanging up along side the work of my new friends David Wien and Janina Angel Bath at Muse Art & Design on 4224 SE Hawthorne here in Portland. We're having an artist reception Wednesday, Sept 6th from 7-9 PM. If you happen to be near, do stop in! It should be fun for the whole family! The show will be up 'till Sept 16th.

On Sunday Sept 10th I'll be vending at Crafty Wonderland (Portland's monthly Arts & Crafts extravaganza)from 11am-4pm at the Doug Fir lounge on 830 E. Burnside. I'm pretty excited about this event, mostly because I'll be vending alongside some awsome artists! Check out their website: http://www.craftywonderland.com/

Lastly (for now) I just recently got accepted into the big Portland Saturday (and Sunday) Market! So every weekend You can find me there (10am-5pm Saturdays 11am-4:30 pm Sundays) somewhere around the Burnside bridge, downtown portland (I'm in a different spot every time, so it might take some searching). Check out their website: http://artcapac.ipower.com/www.portlandsaturdaymarket.com It's a wonderful crazy circus of an art Fair: Artists and Craftspeople all representing themselves and setting up shop. I'll be there at my Capacity Studio Booth making art, talking to people and selling hand printed sikscreen shirts, Fine Art prints, Comic Books, Art Zines, Art Cards, and whatever other oddities I end up coming up with. If you're in the area, you should stop by and say 'Hi'. If you tell me Elcabob Shphelbart sent you, I'll give you a free sticker.

STILL OUT HERE... SOMEWHERE.

Hi!
----> Everything art-wise has been moving in slow motion due to the epic struggle known as moving. But now that I'm officially living in Portland Oregon, projects are starting to be exhumed from their boxes. Capacity #7 (which is embarrassingly late) is still patiently waiting for completion. It's been a weird and surprising artistic process. Being away from it has given me a lot of time to reflect on what the story is really trying to tell me. As a result, I've been rethinking my approach. I've been reading as much as I can and soaking in art wherever I can find it, and it's got me feeling pretty inspired about coming back to this story with fresh eyes.
---> In the mean time I've been working on a small art book called 'Thought Cloud Shrines'. It's going to be my contribution to a limited edition box set being put out my an excellent Australian publisher called Art Visionary. Some of the other contributors include Alex Grey, Damian Michaels, HR Giger, Joe coleman, and Teesha Moore. I feel incredibly excited to have been invited to be a part of this! More on this at a later time
-----> In other news, My new apartment has a basement! Why is that so exciting? Because I can set up my silk-screening work shop!
-----> If you happen to be in the Portland area, I'll be at a number of great events with my work in the coming months. The two that are confirmed so far are:

---The Portland Zine Symposium: August 11-13th at the Portland State University in the Smith Memorial Ball room, Downtown Portland.
http://www.pdxzines.com/

---Stumptown Comics Fest: October 27-28th at the Oregon Convention Center
http://www.stumptowncomics.com/

I can also be found somewhere on Alberta street on the last thursday of every month dodging stilt-walkers and flame-jugglers while I try to sell comics
Ta Ta for now

Right now I'm madly finishing up the final details of Capacity #7. This newest issue contains Part 0ne of my first novel length story 'Understanding Monster'. It's 40 pages long ,nearly twice the size of previous issues ,and contains two layers of cover art. I'm pretty excited about the series shifting it's focus from shorter narratives to longer pieces. It will allow me to experiment with more indepth charactor development in my writing as I continue to explore the phsycology of the inner worlds and symbolism inside of my art. My plan is for this comic series to shape into a series of interconnected novels that create a personal mythology of sorts. I don't want to give away too much ,but if you decide to pick up Capacity #7 you will get to enjoy the following phenomenon's:------------>
Walking through the ghost of a lake ; Drinking tea wth a monster inside of a cloud ; A Proffessor who remembers every single dream he has ever had in his entire life ;A job offer from an imaginary man ;Uncooperative puppets ;And ,of course ,charming prehistoric creatures.
I'll let everyone know when it's ready!!
I'll be exhibiting at the Alternative Press Expo (APE) in San Francisco on April 8-9 I should have the newest comic book ready - Understanding Monsters #1. I'll also have Capacity 1-6 and my art zine Paperwasp as well as art cards, screen prints, shirts, and hopefully the new skateboard deck coming out from Bomb Skateboards.
Maybe I'll see you there.
